Geralt of Rivia is getting poised to make a comeback to the Netflix streaming service. The first shot from the set of The Witcher season 3 was published on Monday by the show’s official Twitter account, revealing that production has begun on the third season of the fantasy series.
The picture itself is a bit of a disappointment. On the middle of a snowy field, Geralt (Henry Cavill) and his companions Ciri (Freya Allen) and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) are seated in production seats while the adjacent team prepares for the next shot. Despite the fact that the snapshot doesn’t tell much about the next season, it’s comforting to know that work has begun and the programme is on its way back to its original air date.
Netflix provided further information regarding the narrative in the form of a synopsis that reads as follows: “As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line—or risk losing each other forever.”
Filming for season 3 has already begun, and with many Covid restrictions having been lifted throughout the globe, it is feasible that we may see the next season by the end of the year or early next year. Due to the level of instability in our global environment as well as Henry Cavill’s leg injury as well as the normal difficulties faced while shooting programmes of this sort, it is more than probable that the second season will premiere in 2023.
No release date has been set for Season 3 of The Witcher. In 2019, the first season of the programme premiered, but the second season was delayed numerous times related to COVID.
