Here For Blood Movie Review

In the horror comedy film Here for Blood, Resident Evil actor Shawn Roberts plays the part of Tom O’Bannon. O’Bannon is a nice guy who has a good reputation in the world of wrestling, and he only displays the tiniest bit of anger when his fiancée Phoebe (Joelle Farrow) asks him to babysit a 10-year-old while she studies for finals in the movie. This is because O’Bannon is a nice guy who has a good reputation in the wrestling world. The stoic young lady known as Grace, who is portrayed by Maya Misaljevic, eventually softens her position after developing a friendship with Tom while spending time together enjoying pizza and video games. The evening, however, takes a turn for the unexpected when hooligans in masks who have connections to a mysterious power burst into Grace’s apartment.

Here for Blood is a horror-comedy that delivers gore and laughs. Tom has to protect Grace and Phoebe from the demon-possessed cult members, the zombified dead, and the decapitated head, whose voice is provided by Dee Snider of the rock band Twisted Sister and who is both voracious and conversational.

I would like to thank Julia at TARO PR for helping organize the screening of the film for the Horror Facts website!

Here for Blood Movie Still Image

The realistic carnage effects that were created by The Butcher Shop FX let the film, Here for Blood, live up to its name. The film is a clear homage to The Evil Dead. Even while the deaths in Here for Blood provide an awesome gorefest, I couldn’t shake the feeling that the movie put more emphasis on its impressive blood fueled graphics than it did on its narrative but that’s ok because I really did enjoy the feeling the move delivered which to reiterate once again felt a lot like an Evil Dead film.

It would be unfair to the movie to reveal much more about it, as the experience is best enjoyed without any prior knowledge. It is safe to say that it is a collection of various terrifying concepts, each of which has been painstakingly realized by the cast and crew. This movie only has a few effects that were created on a computer, while the most of the effects were shot on location. On-screen injuries such as burns, cuts, and gushing blood are painstakingly manufactured by special effects artists. People that have a passion for crafting horror movies put their hearts and souls into creating this movie.

Here For Blood was a labor of love made possible by the blood, sweat, and tears (no pun intended) of numerous talented individuals. We discovered a way to make a completely independent feature film in a fledgling film community without the aid of any film grants or bursaries. Here For Blood is the result of years of effort; knocking on doors, pounding the pavement, finding creative solutions, and forging our own path to production and beyond. We hope that by undertaking such an ambitious project, we will be able to open new doors within the Canadian film community, create new opportunities, and alter the perception of what is possible on an independent level.

Daniel Turres – Director

Here For Blood is directed by Daniel Turres, co-produced by Jacob Windatt and writer James Roberts, and features Canadian actors Shawn Roberts (Heartland, X-Men), Joelle Farrow (Under The Banner Of Heaven), Maya Misaljevic (The Boys), Tara Spencer-Nairn (Corner Gas), Michael Therriault (Chucky – Television Series), and American film & music personality Dee Snider.
