Mickey’s Got a Machete: David Howard Thornton’s Twisted Mouse Terrorizes in ‘Screamboat’

Get ready, horror fans! Even though we’re still on the edge of our seats waiting for that full trailer, the creators of Screamboat have just dropped a striking new image that’s sure to leave an impression. Brace yourselves, because it gives us a fantastic glimpse of David Howard Thornton, the actor known for playing Art the Clown in the Terrifier series, as a chilling, murderous mouse. Trust me, this isn’t the Disney magic you remember.

(Feel free to check out the image below… if you’re brave enough!)

Screamboat is set to hit theaters in April 2025, thanks to Iconic Events Releasing. Once you survive the theater experience, you can catch it digitally with DeskPop Entertainment, ready to invade your streaming options.

So, what terrifying adventure awaits us on this doomed ferry? The official plot hints at a dark turn: “A late-night ferry ride goes horribly wrong for a group of New Yorkers when a sneaky, deadly mouse begins its rampage, targeting innocent passengers. What begins as a simple ride quickly turns into a fight for survival.” In other words, think Snakes on a Plane, but with a rodent that has a body count to rival Freddy Krueger.

At the helm is Steven LaMorte, the twisted mind behind The Mean One (you know, the horror twist on the Grinch). The cast is a fun mix of recognizable faces and horror experts. Tyler Posey (our beloved Teen Wolf) and Kailey Hyman (a survivor from Damien Leone’s Terrifier 2) are among those facing this tiny terror. Plus, keep an eye out for cameos from Brian Quinn of “Impractical Jokers” and comedian Joe DeRosa – because what’s scarier than a little humor in a horror film?

But the cast doesn’t stop there. We also have Allison Pittel (from Stream), Amy Schumacher (The Mean One), Jesse Posey (Teen Wolf), Jesse Kove (Cobra Kai), Rumi C Jean-Louis (Hightown), Jarlath Conroy (a veteran from Romero’s Day of the Dead!), and Charles Edwin Powell (The Exorcist III). It’s a remarkable lineup of horror talent!

Wondering who’s behind the creepy effects? Look no further than Christian Beckman’s Quantum Creation FX, Inc. (the creators of the amazing creature effects in The Last Voyage of the Demeter). They brought this terrifying little beast to life using designs from concept artist Christian Cordella (whose work includes Spider-Man: No Way Home – talk about a shift in tone!).

Screamboat promises to be an unbelievably wild addition to the creature feature genre. Will it be a delightfully cheesy film that’s so bad it’s good, or a genuinely scary reimagining of a classic character? Only time will reveal the truth. But one thing is for sure: we’re buckled up and ready for the adventure!
