The human population undergoes new changes and mutations as a result of adapting to an artificial environment. Celebrity performance artist Saul Tenser, together with his girlfriend Caprice, is known for giving avant-garde performances in which they demonstrate the transformation of Tenser’s internal organs.

The terrible impacts of pollution and climate change in some undefined future have driven substantial developments in biotechnology, including the construction of machines and (analogue) computers that can directly interface with and control the processes of the human body. At the same time, human beings themselves have undergone a number of biological shifts, the causes of which are not completely understood.

The disappearance of physical pain and infectious disease for the overwhelming majority of people is the most significant of these changes. This makes it possible for surgery to be safely performed on conscious people in ordinary settings. Other humans, however, experience more radical alterations to their physiology. One of them, a young child named Brecken who is just eight years old, demonstrates an intrinsic capacity to absorb and digest plastics as if they were food. Brecken’s mother is under the impression that her son is a monster, so she suffocates him with a pillow and then leaves his body for her ex-husband Lang to discover.

The film received a good review from the majority of the 201 critics who contributed to the review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, with an average rating of 6.5 out of 10.
