Attention, horror lovers! If you get a thrill from the spooky and eerie, or if you’ve ever wanted to spin your own chilling stories, you’ll want to circle March 29th and 30th on your calendar. Spring Haunts is back in York for its second year, filled with inspiration, chills, and all things Gothic. This weekend event is perfect for anyone eager to hone their horror writing skills.
After a fantastic first year in 2024, Spring Haunts is teaming up again with Writing Magazine and Alex Davis Events. Set in York—the UK’s famously haunted city—this gathering features a fantastic lineup of workshops, interviews, book sales, and more. No matter if you’re a seasoned writer or just starting out in horror fiction, there’s plenty to ignite your creativity.
The Guest List: Masters of the Dark Arts
Get ready for an impressive group of speakers at Spring Haunts. You’ll hear from some of the best in horror and Gothic fiction:
- Andrew Michael Hurley, known for his spine-tingling books like Starve Acre, will share what he knows about creating lingering dread.
- Alison Littlewood, writer of Mistletoe and The Crow Garden, will lend her haunting wisdom to the discussions.
But it doesn’t stop there! You’ll also get hands-on experience in workshops led by these talented authors:
- Yvonne Battle-Felton, whose works like Curdle Creek are filled with unsettling vibes.
- Simon Clark, a horror legend, will tap into apocalyptic themes and nightmares.
- Amanda Mason, whose stories in The Wayward Girls will keep you on edge.
Leading the event is Alex Davis, a lecturer and expert in all things spooky, who promises a fantastic experience for everyone.
