Another setback for Morbius. Seven delays have been reported. A July 2020 release date was originally planned. But then, COVID happened. COVID has once again caused Jared Leto’s turn as Morbius The Living Vampire to be delayed – this time for a full three months!
Morbius has been rescheduled for April Fool’s Day. Morbius’ release date has now been changed to April 1, 2022.
Biochemist Michael Morbius tries to cure himself of a rare blood disease, but when his experiment goes wrong, he inadvertently infects himself with a form of vampirism instead.
It is also possible that the move was strategic. The box office for Spider-Man: No Way Home opened hugely, and will most likely continue to do so. It’s unclear whether or not Morbius would have stepped on the coattails of Spider-Man’s box office exit since it was scheduled for release on January 28, 2022. Morbius may be better off moving to April where there is no competition.
The delay may indeed help build even more hype for the film.
