Growing up in the 90’s was a legendary time for video games, we had Nintendo, Sega and of course PlayStation all competing for the best console of the generation and while it may be disputed on which console was the best for it’s time there is no doubt that Twisted Metal is and was one of the highest selling points of the generation driving hundred’s of thousands of fans to the PlayStation console just so they could fight their friends with a variety of awesome vehicles. Well if you loved the game guess what, there is a TV show based on twisted metal coming to the NBC Peacock streaming service.
Mackie will portray John Doe, a smart-ass milkman who talks as quickly as he drives, in the half-hour action comedy. With no recollection of his background, John is given a once-in-a-lifetime chance to fulfil his dream of finding community, but only if he can survive a barrage of violent vehicular combat. He’ll battle ruthless marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other hazards of the open road, like a deranged clown driving an all-too-familiar ice cream truck, with the help of a trigger-happy car thief.
“Twisted Metal has been a global sensation for almost 25 years, but it was Michael Jonathan Smith, Rhett Reese, and Paul Wernick’s creative vision for this live-action version that blew us away.” It was also indisputable since it starred Anthony Mackie!” NBCUniversal Television and Streaming president of scripted content Lisa Katz remarked. “This adrenalin-infused comedy series is in expert hands with our partners at Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions and Universal Television, and will be the perfect addition to Peacock as we continue to look for uniquely entertaining programs.”
This is Sony Pictures Television’s and PlayStation Productions’ most recent high-profile endeavour. HBO has ordered a series adaption of “The Last of Us,” starring Pedro Pascal and “Game of Thrones” standout Bella Ramsey. The show is set to premiere in 2023. Sony and PlayStation have also had recent film success with the release of “Uncharted,” starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, which has made over $225 million worldwide since its February 18 release.
