Deadline has reported that Brendan Muldowney’s Irish horror film The Cellar will indeed release on April 15 at cinemas and on Shudder via RLJE Films. A global premiere will be held on March 12 as part of the Midnighters segment of SXSW.
Elisha Cuthbert (The Quiet, Captivity) and Eoin Macken (Nightflyers) star in The Cellar, which follows Keira Woods (Cuthbert), whose daughter unexpectedly disappears in the cellar of their new country estate. According to the official synopsis, Keira quickly discovers “an old and powerful force controlling their home that she will have to face–or risk losing her family’s souls permanently.”
The licensing rights have already been acquired by RLJE Films and the Shudder streaming platform. On April 15th, RLJE Films will premiere The Cellar in theatres in the United States, the very same day, Shudder will release the film in North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
The Cellar is still yet to receive a trailer, however we do have a first peek shot of Elisha Cuthbert in character(seen in the image on top of this page).
Craig Engler, general manager at Shudder, called The Cellar “a riveting story that will appeal to both horror lovers and broader audiences alike. Brendan and this talented team have crafted a dark and haunting tale.”
