What would you say to a ghost who shows up in the mirror and asks you: “Do you want to stay pretty?” What would you say?
STAY PRETTY, NO PITY is available to stream exclusively on YouTube this holiday season, courtesy of Tokyo Bay Films and filmmaker Wilco C.Rullens.
In the 11-minute film, Maria Ozawa plays the lead role in the Japanese folklore of Oiwa Yotsuya (Yotsuya Kaidan). During the Edo period, there was a true story about a samurai who killed his wife because she had become deformed, only to be haunted by her vision and kill himself. Yotsuya is back after hundreds of years! Time to punish more ugly characters by recruiting the pretty.
Lucy (half Japanese/half American) has just left an abusive relationship and moved into an American flat with a new roommate. Her life goes from bad to worse when she is given three days by a ghost who shows her seemingly random images. Time is running out. In order to figure out what the ghost wants her to do before time runs out, she must solve the mystery of the visions and discover the clues they contain.
