Nightmare Fuel: Inside the Terrifying World of Cweature Features

Waypoint Entertainment is unleashing a terrifying new entity into the world of horror: Cweature Features (pronounced “Kwee-Cha Fee-Chas”). In a bold move pushing creative boundaries, Cweature Features emerges as a daring new genre label focused on bringing the most unrestrained and boundary-pushing visions in modern horror to the big screen. The launch follows Waypoint’s new slate deal with NEON which came about following their collaboration on the highly anticipated horror feature Cuckoo.

This new “evil sister company” springs forth from the minds of industry veterans Ken Kao and Josh Rosenbaum. United in their drive to “shake up the genre with daring and innovative projects that push the boundaries of what horror can be.” This exciting new label signals Waypoint’s intent to give audacious filmmakers an unconstrained creative space to unleash their most unsettling, nightmare-fueled ideas without compromise.

The first film under Waypoint’s slate deal with NEON is Oz Perkins’ breakout hit Longlegs a film that has been terrifying audiences worldwide. Waypoint was so captivated by the film’s potential that they convinced NEON to make it the inaugural project in their new slate. Released less than a month ago, Longlegs has already grossed an impressive $71 million USD globally, making it the highest-grossing indie horror film in the last decade and the top-grossing, R-rated horror film of 2024 – an omen of the nightmare-inducing fuel that one can begin to expect from this new label.

“The dark allure and possibilities within the horror genre have always been captivating, and now through the lens of Cuckoo, our passion has been reinvigorated for all things spooky,” said Josh Rosenbaum, Partner, and Producer of Cweature Features and Waypoint Entertainment. “Our excitement led to Waypoint’s desire to include NEON’s acquisition of Longlegs as part of our slate deal. We’re haunted by the idea of pushing the genre forward, aiming for an even crazier future of horror.”

Waypoint Entertainment has already earned a stellar reputation with exceptional production credits, including two highly anticipated upcoming genre films: Tilman Singer’s Cuckoo, starring Hunter Schafer and Dan Stevens with NEON, and Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man with Blumhouse Productions.

So prepare your soul accordingly. With its sights set on forging “an even crazier future of horror,” Cweature Features promises a new age of unrestrained, boundary-pushing evil unbounded by rules or limits. Here, fear and fun become maliciously intertwined – for as any self-respecting horror fan knows, it’s always the toothiest of grins that conceal the most menacingly-unhinged terrors behind them.
