As first reported by Bloody Disgusting, legendary director John Carpenter will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 11:30 AM PT. The ceremony will take place at 7000 Hollywood Boulevard, right in front of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
Carpenter’s star will be the 2,806th added to the famous stretch of sidewalk that runs through the heart of Los Angeles, recognizing a career that helped shape modern horror—and left its fingerprints all over sci-fi and action, too. The event will be hosted by Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Steve Nissen, and fans who can’t be there in person can stream it live at WalkofFame.com.
Carpenter’s breakout came in 1978 with Halloween, a low-budget indie that didn’t just scare audiences—it changed the genre. Over the years, he continued to leave his mark with titles like The Thing, The Fog, Christine, They Live, Big Trouble in Little China, and In the Mouth of Madness—films that have since become cult classics.
Beyond directing, Carpenter is a writer and composer. He’s penned most of his own films, contributed scripts to projects he didn’t direct, and composed some of horror’s most iconic scores—most notably the Halloween theme, which remains one of the most recognizable pieces of music in the genre. More recently, he worked on the score for the Halloween sequel trilogy, proving his creative voice is just as sharp today.
This week’s ceremony comes nearly a year after the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced its class of 2025 honorees back in June 2024. Inductees are given up to two years to schedule their ceremony, and Carpenter’s fans have been waiting for this one ever since.
He’ll receive his star under the Motion Pictures category, but Carpenter’s legacy reaches far beyond the big screen. His work in television and anthology series shows just how far his influence spreads—and how long it’s lasted.
For longtime fans, this moment is more than a formality. It’s a celebration of a filmmaker who helped define a genre—and kept pushing it forward. Whether you’ve been watching his films since they hit theaters or just found them on streaming, this star marks a legacy that’s still very much alive.
The ceremony will be streamed live at WalkofFame.com. For original coverage and more details, check out Bloody Disgusting’s article here.
