The holiday of Halloween is celebrated annually on October 31. In 2021, Halloween will take place on Sunday, October 31. Ancient Celtics used to light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts during Samhain, an ancient Celtic festival. It was Pope Gregory III who established November 1 as a day to honor all saints in the eighth century. Soon, Samhain’s traditions were incorporated into All Saints Day. Halloween, or All Hallows Eve, was celebrated the evening before. Throughout the years, Halloween has become a day of activities, including trick-or-treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, gatherings, dressing up, and eating treats.
