Bruce Campbell Reveals New Information About Upcoming ‘Evil Dead’ Film

It was previously reported back in July by HorrorFacts founder, Justin, that the next movie in the ‘Evil Dead’ franchise, titled ‘Evil Dead Rise,’ would be leaving the cabin in the woods.

This information came via an interview Bruce Campbell had with Diabolique magazine back on June 23/2020, where he revealed information about the setting for the new film:

“A whole, new ballgame. No more cabin in the woods.”

During a recent interview with ‘Alabama Life & Culture,’ Bruce Campbell revealed new information about the upcoming ‘Evil Dead’ film. Campbell revealed that, like the 2013 ‘Evil Dead’ film, the story will revolve around a female heroine.

“We’re going to have a heroine, a woman in charge, and she’s going to try and save her family.”

About the change of scenery from the woods, Campbell added:

“What we’re doing now is we’re saying, look, this is another ‘Evil Dead’ movie and that book gets around, a lot of people run into it and it’s another story.”

The rumor that has surrounded this film is that it will take place in a tower or skyscraper. Despite Campbell sharing the detail about the book moving around, he never confirmed the official setting for the new film.

As far as details on the status of the film, Campbell provided the following statement:

“We’re honing-in, circling the building now trying to lock in a partner. We have a couple of bidders and we’re trying to just find the correct suitor and we have a script written and a director picked.”

The director is, of course, Lee Cronin, who was hand picked by ‘Evil Dead’ creator, Sam Raimi, back in June of this year.

It appears official word on when production will begin continues to remain a mystery, as, when asked, Campbell had this say:

“We’re hoping to do that next year.”

This is similar to the comment made by Campbell back in June, when he stated:

“I don’t think anything will happen until 2021.”

Horrorfacts will continue to keep you informed as new information becomes available.
