Back in Black! First Look at Winona Ryder’s Epic Return as Lydia Deetz in Beetlejuice 2

The internet collectively lost its mind this week when set photos revealed Winona Ryder back in goth girl glory as Lydia Deetz for the long-awaited Beetlejuice sequel.

Over 30 years after the original 1988 classic, Ryder slips effortlessly back into Lydia’s signature black lace and pointed jet-black bangs. But she’s all smiles this time around as the photos reveal an unexpected wedding scene.

So who’s the lucky groom? Director Tim Burton promises fans answers with the same kooky charm of the original, saying “We’re doing it exactly like we did the first movie. There’s a woman in the great waiting room for the afterlife literally with a fishing line – I want people to know this because I love it – tugging on the tail of a cat to make it move.”

While Michael Keaton returns as the manic supernatural troublemaker Beetlejuice, the plot remains tightly under wraps. But Lydia’s apparent wedding bells hint this sequel may see the lonely outcast teen fully embracing her oddball nature as a woman.

And with her spooky goth-girl daughter (played by Jenna Ortega) by her side, it seems the Deetz women may have a few tricks of their own ready to torment the ghost with the most.

So get those Ouija boards ready as this dark dream team reunites! Beetlejuice 2 creeps into theaters September 2024.
