THE BOOGEYMAN Filming Has Started

After their father, a psychotherapist, has an encounter with a desperate patient at their house, a 16-year-old girl and her younger sister, still suffering from the murder of their mother, are targeted by a supernatural boogeyman, this is the official plot outline for the upcoming Stephen King film adaptation the Boogeyman. Cast and crew have signed on and the movie has been reported to have started filming according to reports from deadline.

The most recent iteration of the script was written by Mark Heyman, with previous draughts written by Scott Beck & Bryan Woods (A Quiet Place) and Akela Cooper (Malignant). Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps are executive producers, with Beck, Woods, and Emily Morris serving as producers.

Production on Hulu’s upcoming film version of Stephen King’s short horror storey The Boogeyman has begun in New Orleans, according to 20th Century Studios. In addition to previously announced actors Chris Messina (Sharp Objects) and Yellowjackets breakout Sophie Thatcher, filming has begun with the addition of four more cast members.

David Dastmalchian (The Suicide Squad), Marin Ireland (The Last Man), Vivien Lyra Blair (Bird Box), and Madison Hu (Voyagers) have all been cast in the horror-thriller, which is set to hit theatres next year.

The Boogeyman, first published in Cavalier magazine in 1973, begins with a man recounting recent events in his life to his psychiatrist, Dr. Harper, following the death of his children, who were slaughtered by a creature lurking in the closet. The short tale was later included in King’s Night Shift collection, which was published in 1978.
