Scream 6 To Start Filming This June

Well according to a recent interview with Courtney Cox the word on the street is that Scream 6 will start production sometime in June of this year, with the filming location being in Canada. We posted that Scream 6 was on the mind of Neve Campbell back in January. With the latest comments from Cox we can just about confirm that there will indeed be a Scream 6 and it’s coming sooner than later.

The lady who played Gale Weathers in every Scream film will return for the next instalment, and she also revealed that the script has been written.

I got the script yesterday. I haven’t read it yet, I just got it. … I’m excited to read it, and I know they’re gonna start filming I think in June, in Canada. I don’t know if I’m supposed to say anything. Let me tell you the killer!

Scream 2022 brought Wes Craven’s famous franchise back to life in a huge manner. The newest film brings the Ghostface killer back to Woodsboro, passing the baton from late Craven (who died in 2015) to Ready or Not directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. The film featured a meticulous critique of horror genre cliches, in this case, taking special aim at the Force Awakens-esque legacyquel, in typical Scream form. Scream was a huge box office smash in the end, even putting up a valiant fight against the box office behemoth Spider-Man: No Way Home.

While Courteney Cox appears to be on board, there is no word on who else will return for the Scream sequel. Never Campbell, a fellow Scream vet, had yet to receive or read a screenplay, so it was unknown if she would return for Scream 6. Hopefully, with Cox’s update, that will change. To find out if Campbell will return, fans will have to wait till she reads the draught. After his devastating death in the relaunch, David Arquette will not be returning.

The same creative team behind this year’s Scream film is behind Scream 6. From a script by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will direct. With his Project X Entertainment partners Paul Neinstein and William Sherak, Vanderbilt is producing the picture. With Chad Villella, Gary Barber, and Peter Oillataguerre, Kevin Williamson, the original Scream writer, acts as executive producer.

Can Neve Campbell’s iconic Sidney Prescott be far behind now that Gale Weathers is back on board? Let’s hope so.
