Rosé’s Horror Narrator Recommendations

Alright, Horror Facts, let’s get spooky! I’m putting together an article for Halloween and thought it would be fun to focus on Creepypasta narrations. I used to be a big fan of some of the larger channels, but after a few controversies, I’ve been giving my time to smaller or more middle-of-the-road ones.

So, I’m going to do a ten-channel recommendation list. Let’s dive into the spooky world of Creepypasta!

No particular order here, just a list of channels I like. I’ll mention what makes them stand out to me. Keep in mind, YouTube can be a bit wonky with subscriptions, so follow these channels on social media too. And don’t forget to check the video descriptions for the original authors – supporting them is always a good idea.”

  1. Lady Spookaria: Horror with an Aussie twist. Her stories cover a variety of genres including horror, sci-fi, dark fantasy, and even post-apocalyptic. On top of this, many of the stories on her channel are written by her so she puts the work in. She also livestreams and is incredibly fun to hang out with (hint, if you want to scare her, donate. She freaks out when the message pops up every time. It’s hilarious). On them, she’ll do live readings, gaming, general discussions, and sometimes have guests on. In fact, just a month ago she had on legendary creator of All Tomorrows, C.M. Kosemen (who was very insightful, by the way). Anyway, if this intrigues you, be sure to give her your support.
  1. Miss Creepy Tales: Now, I’m not big on true scary stories such as posts in r/LetsNotMeet. It just makes me mad how many people like that are there, but that said, MCT does a good job covering these accounts from people. In addition to this, she also does Glitch In The Matrix and True Paranormal Tales. She live streams as well (sometimes with Spookaria. They show up in each other’s live chats a lot.  They got a besties thing going on that’s nice to see) and is charming to be in the company of and if you want to keep yourself occupied, her channel has an insane amount of content. We’re talking eight or ten or even twelve-hour compilation videos of stories so if this is the kind of thing you enjoy, you won’t be bored checking out her channel.
  2. Baron Landred: He is one of those narrators I legit don’t understand how he hasn’t gained more traction.  He covers a variety of stories mainly from r/NoSleep and r/LibraryOfShadows. The tone he utilizes is equal parts engaging you in the stories he narrates and relaxing you to lower your guard. If that sounds up your alley, check him out.
  3. Duchess Of Darkness: If you’re looking for variety, this is the channel for you. She’s only been uploading for two years, but she covers stories from r/ShortScaryStories (which brings attention to underrated work since some of these are years old), original content on her channel (such as The Prowler Series, The Cherry Stem Killer Series, and The Dark Side Of Hollywood series written by the same author, The Prowler), and she also covers the occasional True Crime case, and some hilarious stories (Stoolzebub) which I always appreciate as well as folklore, urban legend, and True Paranormal stories. If that’s what you like, check her channel out.
  4. Creepy Oz: Another Aussie channel. What I enjoy about him is when he gets into a story, he sells you on the fear as if he’s experiencing what the characters are going through himself. It’s just a great way to pull the listener in and if you enjoy that, give him a listen.
  5. Nightmare Ronin (Formerly Evil Outcast): How about some classic and ritual Creepypastas? You’ll find them on Ronin’s channel. He’s one of those people who I also think deserves way more attention. He’s been at the narration game for a long time. Although, his uploads are a bit sparse. He has enough to occupy you for a while. Be sure to give him your support.
  6. PA Nightmares: Here is another channel that does original content. Similar to Spookaria, he also does his own written stories as well as covering ones found mainly on Reddit and by fellow narrator, As The Raven Dreams. What I enjoy about him is his casual delivery which helps with more comedic horror stories, but he’s also great at flipping on that serious switch to let you know when things are getting tense. If that sounds good, check out his channel.
  7. Danie Dreadful: What to say about her? Well, for one, she’s super friendly to interact with on her live streams (although not as frequent as say, MCT or Spookaria) and will involve her audience in the activity. I remember once, when I popped in, she was doing this question game, so that was fun. She’ll do on-camera readings, which I think adds to the atmosphere of the stories. Audio is already tough to get right, but audio with video is even more of a challenge. That just goes to show the effort she puts in and I think that deserves to be praised. Therefore, be sure to visit her channel.
  8. Dayton Dies: This guy, this guy right here. Okay, so this is actually his second channel. His main one is called ReddX, where he covers the more cringe side of Reddit such as r/niceguys. Some may consider this cheating since horror narrating isn’t his main passion. That said, his narrating performance has a lot of range.

He can go from funny to scared at the drop of a hat. I also like how he doesn’t entirely hide his reaction to parts of a story. I’ve heard him laugh at certain points mid-narration. It brings a sort of casualness that I think more narrations could utilize. I understand not wanting to break immersion, but I don’t think stories always need to be taken seriously. I also like that he will appear at the end of stories and give his  commentary. He always begins his videos by saying, “I am not dead quite yet, and neither are you, which is something we should both be grateful for!”. To show how grateful you are, how about giving him a listen?

  1. C. Mustard: At last, we come to the final entry on this list. C. Mustard is a comedy horror channel that puts more emphasis on comedy rather than horror. Don’t let that fool you, though. I would not want to be caught dead in most of the situations this channel’s characters end up in even if they are hilarious. I will give a warning here. Some of the humor does get a bit edgy so if that’s not your thing, this is your heads up. With that out of the way, I have busted out laughing at how absurd and over the top these stories are, all entirely original, by the way. If I had to summarize it this would be the ideal narration channel for stoners. The stories don’t take themselves seriously at all. It’s the kind of thing where you can unwind and surrender yourself to how ridiculous they get and that’s why you should check out this channel.

Well, that wraps it for this post. As I’ve stated, the support you can give to these channels, as well as the authors providing their stories, is much appreciated. Even a nice comment goes a long way. Sorry for not having an article out this time, but I’ve been meaning to do some lists for a while anyway. I figured, why not one that gives some awesome people some much-deserved attention? I may expand on this list in the future. Next time, I may either be doing a book review or something on The Twilight Zone. Be on the lookout for it. Have an awesome time and happy reading
