Production on the SyFy Series ‘Chucky’ has Officially Begun

Actor Devon Sawa took to Twitter on April 1st to announce he had started his first day on the set of the SyFy series. In the post, the actor stated:

“Day one for me on this show with the little fella.”

Sawa’s post, however, was soon disregarded as nothing more than an April Fool’s Day joke. With fans of the killer doll treating it as such. The disbelief in the actor’s announcement is what next prompted Don Mancini, the creator of the iconic killer doll, to take to his Twitter account in a follow-up announcement. In his post, the writer/director stated:

“This is no April Fool’s joke. Chucky the series is officially in production and coming to USA Network and SyFy this fall.”

In his post, he would go on to mention the ‘Child’s Play’ marathon that aired all day on the SyFy channel on April 1st.

Along with the message, he also included a fifteen-second clip of the first script’s title page scrolling across the screen over the maniacal laughter of Chucky. The clip revealed the first episode is written and directed by Mancini and will be titled “Death by Misadventure.”

The clip ended with the voice of Chucky uttering the famous line:

“You just can’t keep a good guy down.”

This announcement by Mancini isn’t the only recent news related to the series, as it was just announced that Lexa Doig (Andromeda) will be joining the series as Bree Webber. With the announcement, we also learn that Sawa will be playing a character named Logan. The actor’s role in the series has remained a mystery and this bit of information gives us our first clue.

Doig’s character is reported to be married to Logan and is also the aunt of Jake Webber (Zackary Arthur). According to the official character description, Bree is held to an unrealistic standard — by her husband and herself –  which leads her to keep a dark secret from her family.

Doig will join the series along with already announced cast members Brad Dourif, who reprises his role as the voice of Chucky; Jennifer Tilly, as Tiffany Valentine;  Fiona Dourif, who returns as Nica Pierce; and newcomers to the franchise Zackary Arthur, Björgvin Arnarson, Teo Brione, Alyvia Alyn Lind, and Devon Sawa.
