An American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Doctor Strange, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to be released in 2019. The film, which is being produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, is supposed to be the sequel to Doctor Strange (2016) and the 28th instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to the studio (MCU). Director Sam Raimi and writer Michael Waldron collaborated on the script for the picture, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange with Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, and Michael Stuhlbarg, as well as Rachel McAdams. Strange and his companions go on a journey across the universe in order to confront a strange new opponent in the flick.

Until October 2016, Scott Derrickson, the filmmaker and co-writer of Doctor Strange, had already begun planning a sequel. After it was established that Cumberbatch will return, he signed a contract to return as director in December 2018. A year ago, the title of the picture, as well as Olsen’s participation, were revealed. In October of that year, Jade Halley Bartlett was brought on board to write the script. As a result of creative conflicts, Derrickson stepped down as director in January 2020, with Waldron and Raimi joining the project the following month and beginning afresh. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic in January 2021, filming was put on hold until the end of November 2020 in London. Somerset began production in March 2021 and finished by the middle of April. Besides Surrey and Los Angeles, the filming took place in other locations.
In other news, according to Deadline, Disney/impending Marvel’s massive worldwide blockbuster Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will not be released in theatres in Saudi Arabia for the time being.
This comes on the heels of Marvel’s The Eternals being banned from Saudi Arabia due to the film’s same-gender coupling romance and the inclusion of the MCU’s first homosexual superhero, who was also banned from the country. Doctor Strange 2 has America Chavez (played by Xochitl Gomez), a character who is homosexual in the Marvel comics but is not gay in the film. It is common for films containing LGBTQ material to be rejected by censors in the Gulf.
