The Village Gets a Long-Awaited High-Def Upgrade: 4K Release Incoming!

Calling all fans of M. Night Shyamalan’s suspenseful thrillers! There’s exciting news for those who’ve been waiting to revisit the chilling world of The Village in stunning high definition.

The director himself confirmed he’s working on bringing The Village to both Blu-ray and 4K formats! Believe it or not, the film, released in 2004, has never even seen a Blu-ray release before.

“A lot of people keep coming up to me on the street [about The Village],” Shyamalan recently told /Film. “I’m on it. Yeah, no, that’s my next thing… That’s interesting that you asked — yeah, I’m literally on it right now to get a 4K release.”

This news comes as a welcome surprise for horror fans who hold a special place for The Village. Set in a secluded 19th-century Pennsylvania town, the film follows a community living in fear of mysterious creatures lurking in the surrounding woods. While the movie initially received mixed reviews, it’s undergone a critical reappraisal in recent years, with many now considering it one of Shyamalan’s strongest works.

The Village joins the ranks of other Shyamalan films like The Sixth Sense (also lacking a 4K release) that may potentially follow suit with a high-def upgrade.

In the meantime, Shyamalan’s latest film, Trap, is keeping audiences on the edge of their seats in theaters. The thriller stars Josh Hartnett and explores the terrifying situation a father and daughter find themselves in during a seemingly normal pop concert.
