According to Lee Cronin the editing of the upcoming Evil Dead film has been completed. While no release date has been set, horror lovers may be certain that the Deadites will return sooner rather than later. After plans for a straight sequel to the 2013 remake were discarded, Evil Dead Rise was born, with the newest instalment in the series following up decades after Sam Raimi’s original trilogy.
Since the discontinuation of Ash vs. Evil Dead in 2018, fans of the franchise have been anxiously anticipating the next project in the franchise. While many fans were hoping for a sequel to Army of Darkness or Fede Lvarez’s Evil Dead, Evil Dead Rise intends to be a gory addition to the brand that might pave the way for additional original Evil Dead films or TV shows.
Currently we do have the synopsis for the new film, “In the fifth Evil Dead film, a road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A. apartment. The sisters’ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.”
The Evil Dead franchise is one of the most popular horror franchises from the 1980s, so expectations for the new film are bound to be high.
