Vicinal is a Short Film that has made it’s appearance at this year’s Blood in the Snow film festival. I had the opportunity to screen the film thanks to the fine folks over at Super Channel.
The plot follows Thom and Romina, a young couple living in an affluent downtown apartment who begin to worry that something—or someone—might be residing in the attic.
It’s official Thom and Romina now live in the city’s hippest pad. Everything takes a bizarre turn when an old tenant called Walter Severich requests for a tour.
The short film running only twenty minutes explores horror in the sense of a haunted house but with a twist.
A squatter is residing in the attic of a house owned by a married couple, and the presence of this intruder creates an eerie and unpleasant environment.
The story is told really well, and the performance is of a high calibre thanks to Andrew Davis Osborne, who also directed the film. If a larger media company were to acquire the film rights, I could very well see Vicinal being turned into a full-length motion picture.
The film’s vivid colours and unsettling atmosphere hit close to home for me because I had had personal experience with a spooky living situation in the past.
At blood in the snow 2022, I started off my moviegoing experience with the picture Vicinal. If the quality of films at this year’s festival is anything like the one showcased in this video, then we are in for an amazing time.
If you have the opportunity, you should watch the short film since it is extremely entertaining. You will be able to watch it on super channel as part of the blood in the snow film festival in November of this year.
Blood in the Snow is a festival of horror films that takes place every year in Canada.
It highlights the finest examples of horror produced in Canada and elsewhere in the world.
Beginning on November 21, Super Channel and Blood in the Snow will provide an additional hybrid iteration of the festival to enthusiasts of the horror genre.
There will be a special screening of six festival features only on Super Channel Fuse, and the Isabel Bader Theatre will host the presentation of nine additional festival features.
