The documentary The Robert Englund Story, which has been in the works for a long time, is a Cult Screenings UK Ltd production in conjunction with Unannounced Films. Hollywood Dreams & Nightmares: The Robert Englund Story, a documentary on the legend who played Freddy Krueger, which was shot over a two-year period in London, was just completed and is now in post-production and will be shown at film festivals later this year, according to Deadline. There’s been no word on when the movie will be released in theaters.

Englund’s career has spanned many decades, and he is perhaps most known for his depiction of serial killer Freddy Kruger in the Nightmare on Elm Street series, which he originated. In addition to his countless performances in horror films such as Scream, Englund is due to feature in the fourth season of Stranger Things, which premieres on October 26th. However, Englund’s career is not limited to the horror genre; he has also done voice work for the DC Comics world as well as Cartoon Network’s The Regular Show, among other projects. In fact, Englund made a cameo in costume on ABC’s The Goldbergs in the season finale.
Throughout the documentary, Hollywood Dreams & Nightmares: The Robert Englund Story, genre greats Eli Roth, Lin Shaye, Heather Langenkamp, and Lance Henriksen recall their most memorable encounters with the actor. Director Gary Smart, who previously worked on Pennywise: The Story of IT, and co-producer Christopher Griffiths, who previously worked on RoboDoc: The Story of Robocop, are both well-versed in the documentary genre.
The film A Nightmare on Elm Street, written and directed by Wes Craven, introduced the world to Englund’s metal-clawed Krueger, the ghost of a child murderer who had been burnt to death by his victims’ parents after eluding capture and detention by the authorities. The picture, which is widely considered as one of the finest horror films of all time, grossed $57 million worldwide on a $1 million production budget.
