Mill Creek Entertainment, a division of Alliance Entertainment, announces the release of Mutiny Pictures’ ‘The Fall of Usher,’ an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s short story, The Fall of the House of Usher.
In the official teaser trailer for ‘The Fall of Usher,’ we are briefly introduced to a man who, for the moment, calls himself William. He is a man who assures us that, in time, we will come to despise him and that our revulsion will be “rightly warranted.”
He then reveals that, in an attempt to stay his execution and mitigate the accusations against him, he intends to offer us his sad history.
Based on the works of Poe, ‘The Fall of Usher’ follows the story of a young man who, while caring for his terminally ill father, gets pulled into a maelstrom of murder, madness, and the macabre.

Poe’s original story was first published in 1839, and was rereleased the following year in Tales of the Grotesque and Arabesque, a book which featured a collection of Poe’s previously published short stories. The book itself was only published due to the success of The Fall of the House of Usher.
In Poe’s original story, an unnamed narrator arrives at the House of Usher after receiving a letter from his childhood friend, Roderick Usher, asking him to visit.
While there, the narrator learns of Roderick’s illness as well as the illness that seems to have befallen Roderick’s twin sister, Madeline.
During their time together, Roderick reveals that he believes the house is alive and that his fate is tied to the family mansion.
Over the course of the story, the narrator begins to witness some of the strange phenomena that occur within the Usher estate, before finally seeing first-hand the connection the mansion has with its inhabitants.
‘The Fall of Usher’ stars Spencer Korcz (Wretch, One Wrong Step), James Tackett (Overtime, United We Fall). Savannah Schafer (Night of 1000 Clowns, Beasts of the Field), and Rita Hight (Roman Citizen, Bullitt Country). It was written and directed by Brian Cunningham.
The adaptation of Poe’s classic premiered at the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival 2021 and will now be released digitally on July 12, 2022.
