The 3D theatrical release of “DAWN OF THE DEAD” Still Running.

The 3D adaptation of George A. Romero’s 1978 horror classic, Dawn of the Dead, has been playing at 250 Regal Cinemas around the country since last week, and due to positive fan response, the run has been extended through November 10.

According to a statement released by Regal Cinemas, the film’s run has been extended by 10 days “thanks to extraordinary ticket pre-sales.” Please visit RegMovies.com to purchase tickets.

The theatre chain claims that the 3D film is the unaltered, original version of Romero’s classic picture that was converted to the new format with the help of Dawn of the Dead producer Richard P. Rubinstein.

“The movie is not available on any streaming platform anywhere. It isn’t on cable, and has been out-of-print on DVD and Blu-ray in the U.S. for over a decade. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the original, uncut 1979 US theatrical release version of Dawn of the Dead, lovingly and meticulously adapted to 3-D format under the frame-by-frame supervision of Dawn’s original producer, Richard P. Rubinstein.”

Press Release

Dawn of the Dead, written and directed by George A. Romero, depicts the terrifying invasion of the United States by a horde of zombies. An employee of a Pennsylvania radio station and his girlfriend flee the scene in the station’s helicopter with the help of two deserting SWAT team members. In what might be “humanity’s last struggle,” the survivors take refuge in a mall.

The picture, which featured the talents of Ken Foree, Scott Reiniger, Gaylen Ross, and David Emge, was a financial and critical triumph, grossing $66 million throughout the world on a budget of only $640,000.
