Attention horror fans! Freakish Films, a production company known for their unique horror offerings, is currently seeking support for their new proof-of-concept folk-horror short film, LECHUZA. The film centers around the vengeful witch of Latin-American folklore and explores the theme of our dependence on the matriarchs of our families.
Excitingly, the team behind LECHUZA is seeking the support of the horror community to make this project a reality. Recently, Horrorfacts,, was contacted and asked to help spread the word about the film. The request was to provide as much information as possible to get the word out there.
LECHUZA will be filmed over the course of two full days in Los Angeles. The production team has created a beautiful set for the film, which they have shared images of. Additionally, the SFX artist has created a stunning mask for the vengeful witch, which is sure to send chills down your spine.
In this upcoming film, viewers will be taken on a terrifying journey as a group of sisters attempt to resurrect their deceased mother. The film, which is titled LECHUZA, is a folk horror that combines the supernatural elements of Latin American folklore with the deep-seated bonds of sisterhood.
The story follows Gaby, a grieving daughter who cannot accept her mother’s death. In an attempt to bring her back to life, Gaby gathers her sisters in the family coven to perform a resurrection spell. However, their plan goes horribly wrong when the spell summons La Lechuza, a vengeful witch from Latin American folklore.
As the night wears on, the sisters must fight for their lives against the malevolent spirit. La Lechuza takes on each sister individually, exploiting their fears and insecurities. The sisters must battle their personal demons before they can come together to rescue their possessed adopted sister, Perri.
Throughout the film, the importance of sisterhood is a recurring theme. Despite their differences, the sisters must come together and rely on each other to survive the night. The blood of the covenant is indeed thicker than the water of the womb.
LECHUZA promises to be a thrilling, bone-chilling ride for horror fans. The film explores the dark side of magic and sisterhood, and the terrifying consequences that can arise when these two forces collide.
