Isabelle Fuhrman Reprising Role For Orphan Prequel

It was first announced in February of this year that the 2009 horror film ‘Orphan’ would be getting a prequel. Initial reports stated that the then titled ‘Esther’ was set to be directed by William Brent Bell (Brahams: The Boy 2) with filming scheduled to start this past summer.

Although filming has been unable to commence due to the current global situation, the project revealed that Isabelle Fuhrman will now be returning for the prequel.

Fans of the original film will be familiar with Isabelle Fuhrman from her role as Esther, a character originally believed to be a 9-year-old girl but later revealed to actually be a 33-year-old woman with proportional dwarfism, named Leena Klammer.

The plot of this new film, now retitled ‘Orphan: First Kill,’ is said to follow Fuhrman’s character after she escapes from an Estonian mental hospital and travels to America by impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family.  Now, using the alias Esther, she must deal with a mother who will stop at nothing to protect her family.

An issue facing this new film is that Fuhrman is now considerably older at 23, than the 12 years old she was when she first portrayed the character of Esther.

A report coming from Deadline states that filmmakers will be utilizing a combination of forced perspective shooting and a world class make-up team in order to compensate for Fuhrman’s age difference.

Along with Fuhrman, Julia Stiles is also set to appear in the film. It’s unknown what role she will play in the film at this time.
