Jennifer Love Hewitt originally auditioned for the role of Helen Shivers, while Sarah Michelle Gellar auditioned for the part of Julie James. They would both go on to be cast in the film, but in opposite roles.

Along with Iseman, Sonya Balmores (Inhumans) has been cast in an undisclosed recurring role.

The other members of the cast include Sebastian Amoruso (Solve), Cassie Beck (High Maintenance), Brooke Bloom (Homecoming), Ezekiel Goodman, Bill Heck (Locke & Key), Ashley Moore (Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping), Fiona Rene (Stumptown), and Brianne Tju (47 Meters Down: Uncaged).

So far, character descriptions are being kept under wraps.

The premise of the series is said to be a modern take on the original film, which was about a group of four friends who accidentally hit and kill a man on their graduation night. A year later, they are being stalked by a killer who knows what they did and is out for revenge.

Sara Goodman will write and executive produce the show, along with Erik Feig, Shay Hatten, Lana Cho, Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty, and Atomic Monster’s James Wan, Rob Hackett, and Michael Clear.

Craig William Macneill (Channel Zero) is set to direct and executive produce the pilot episode.

It’s still unknown if the season will be an expanded retelling of the original movie or if it will be based around a new murder.
