It should not come as a surprise that there will be a significant amount of bloodshed in the upcoming remake of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser, which was originally released in 1987. There is “severe gruesome horror violence and gore, profanity throughout, some sexual subtext, and brief graphic nudity,” which led to the movie being granted a R rating. The movie will make its debut on Hulu at some time in the second half of this year, according to the plans that have been announced so far.
In the remake produced by Spyglass Media Group, which was directed by David Bruckner and was based on a screenplay written by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski (which was adapted from a story written by David S. Goyer), Jamie Clayton plays the role of Pinhead, which was originally portrayed by Doug Bradley in the original film. The original film was directed by David Bruckner. the cast of the remake also includes: Odessa A’zion and Brandon Flynn, Goran Visnjic, Drew Starkey, Adam Falson, and Aolfe Hinds
Barker, who is also involved in the production of the movie as a producer, stated that the remake “pays homage to what the first film created, but then takes it to places it’s never been before. David and his team are steeped in the story’s mythology, but what excites me is their desire to honor the original.”
In the first iteration of Hellraiser, written and directed by Clive Barker (and based on his 1986 novella The Hellbound Heart), the plot revolves around a mysterious puzzle box that, when opened, releases the Cenobites, a race of sadomasochistic beings led by Pinhead that are unaware of the distinction between pleasure and agony.
The movie was a huge success at the box office, making $14.6 million on a budget of only $1 million. The reviews for the picture were not particularly enthusiastic.
