FIRESTARTER TRAILER REVEALED

A girl with amazing pyrokinetic talents strives to protect her family and herself from dark forces that wish to kidnap and control her in a new version of Stephen King’s classic thriller from the producers of The Invisible Man.

Andy (Zac Efron; Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile; The Greatest Showman) and Vicky (Sydney Lemmon; Fear the Walking Dead, Succession) have been on the run for more than a decade, desperate to protect their daughter Charlie (Ryan Kiera Armstrong; American Horror Story: Double Feature, The Tomorrow War) from a shadowy federal agency that wants to use her unrivalled ability to create fire as a weapon for the army.

Charlie has learned how to defuse her power, which is aroused by anger or suffering, thanks to Andy’s guidance. However, as Charlie approaches the age of 11, the fire gets increasingly difficult to control. Following an incident that discloses the family’s whereabouts, a mysterious operative (Michael Greyeyes; Wild Indian, Rutherford Falls) is dispatched to track down the family and finally apprehend Charlie. Charlie has different ideas.

Kurtwood Smith (Hitchcock’s Amityville: The Awakening), John Beasley (The Purge: Anarchy, The Sum of All Fears) and Gloria Reuben also star in the film (Lincoln, Mr. Robot).   John Carpenter (Halloween, Christine, The Fog) and his fellow Halloween franchise composers Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies wrote the Firestarter score.

Firestarter is produced by Jason Blum (Halloween, The Invisible Man) for Blumhouse and Oscar® winner Akiva Goldsman (I Am Legend, Constantine) for Weed Road Pictures. It is directed by Keith Thomas (The Vigil) from a script by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills) based on the Stephen King novel. Ryan Turek, Gregory Lessans, Scott Teems, Martha De Laurentiis, J.D. Lifshitz, and Raphael Margules serve as executive producers on the picture.
